Happy Boxing Day
Sydney is a great place to forget about Christmas. The santa hats that adorned the throngs at Bondi Beach yesterday seemed like some sort of joke that everyone was in on. The holiday is much more about enjoying the day off from work (in the sun!) than consumerism and sitting in your house with your family. Bondi Beach was great fun, met a couple of Scots on the bus there, we shared a Christmas pizza, and today we went to Manly Beach to watch the start of the Boxing Day Regatta. Hundreds of sailboats crowded the harbor, and then suddenly, the gun went of and they flew out to Tasmania, like an Armada on holiday. It really was quite a sight to see. Glad I can cross it off of my list of things to see in my life. Coming up next- New Years in Sydney. It's supposed to be one of the best fireworks shows in the world, and I am a fool for fireworks, so I plan to make it a big day. Following that, my plans are a little up in the air. I've been trying to get a job at an outback pub for a few weeks, and then travel down the east coast, but the jobs are not... forthcoming. I'm ready to throw myself full force into finding something though, as all this stressing about money is not conducive to having a great time. I'm committed to having a great time in Sydney though, as I will most likely be leaving right after new years.
